Call for Councilor Nominees

Members of the Medieval Association of the Pacific:

The MAP officers are seeking nominations for three councilor positions and one graduate-student representative on the MAP council, each for a three-year term of Fall 2025 to Spring 2028.

The MAP Council is the governing body of the association, and councilors are integral to all aspects of MAP's scholarly and professional programming.

The duties of MAP councilors include participation in council meetings twice per year, in Fall and Spring. These meetings are virtual, except for the meeting that coincides with the in-person biennial conference. MAP councilors also serve each year of their term on one of the association’s prize-selection committees: for the Benton-Mahoney Award in year one, the Henry Ansgar Kelly Paper Prize in year two, and the Founder’s Prize in year three. Councilors are also invited to develop programs, propose MAP-sponsored conference sessions, and participate in all MAP initiatives, as life-work balance permits.

Serving councilors must be members of the Medieval Association of the Pacific. Service on the Council is an excellent way to learn about the operations of MAP for those interested in a larger role in the organization.

Please note the following nomination guidelines:

  • Nominations, including self-nominations, shall consist of the nominee’s short-version c.v. (1-2 pages) and a brief statement of interest (no more than 250 words) sent to the MAP President, Heather Maring, at Heather.Maring@asu.edu
  • Please include either “MAP Councilor nomination” or "MAP grad-rep nomination" as the subject line of your email submission.
  • The deadline for receipt of nominations is September 1, 2025.
  • The current members of the MAP Council, including the association’s officers, will review all nominations received and select the three councilors and one graduate representative from among those nominees.

The MAP Council looks forward to receiving your nominations.

Sincerely,
Scott Wells, MAP Secretary
