Call for Nominations for Councilors & Social Media Officer

Dear Members of the Medieval Association of the Pacific,

As Heather noted in her President’s message earlier this week, MAP is seeking nominees for two positions on the MAP Council  for a 2026-2029 term. Please submit nominations at your convenience between now and July 1.

Nominations should be sent to Scott Wells, MAP Secretary, at scottchristopherwells@gmail.com

Self-nominations are welcome. If you are nominating yourself, please send Scott your short-version c.v. (1-2 pages) and a brief statement of interest (no more than 250 words).

If you would like to nominate someone else, please send Scott their name and email contact information.  He can follow up to confirm their interest in accepting the nomination and their status as a MAP member.

MAP also needs a new Media Officer, who in addition to being on the MAP Council would perform as Media Officer the duties described in MAP's Constitution, Article II.4. If you are interested in that position, please contact Heather Maring (heather.maring@asu.edu) and Jennifer Smith (jennifer.smith@pepperdine.edu) for more information.

The MAP Council looks forward to receiving your nominations.

Further information about serving on the MAP Council

The MAP Council is the governing body of the association, and councilors are integral to all aspects of MAP's scholarly and professional programming.

The duties of MAP councilors include participation in council meetings twice per year, in Fall and Spring. These meetings are virtual, except for the meeting that coincides with the in-person biennial conference. MAP councilors also serve each year of their term on one of the association’s prize-selection committees: for the Benton-Mahoney Award in year one, the Henry Ansgar Kelly Paper Prize in year two, and the Founder’s Prize in year three. Councilors are also invited to develop programs, propose MAP-sponsored conference sessions, and participate in all MAP initiatives, as life-work balance permits.

Serving councilors must be members of the Medieval Association of the Pacific. Service on the Council is an excellent way to learn more about the operations of MAP for those interested in a larger role in the organization.
