Medieval Enchantment

2026 Conference of the Medieval Association of the Pacific at University of New Mexico, Albuquerque 

Join us for the Biennial MAP Conference at the University of New Mexico in historically multicultural Albuquerque in the Land of Enchantment. You will participate in stimulating and vigorous intellectual exchange, experience New Mexican traditions and landscapes, and enjoy warm hospitality.

Friday Plenary: “Enchantment and Disenchantment in Medieval Magic: Variations of Doubt and Disbelief Across Time” by Michael D. Bailey (Iowa State University)

Saturday Plenary: “Enchanted Teaching: Chaucer and Langland in the Working-class, First-Generation Classroom” by Michael Calabrese (Cal State Los Angeles)

Until February 15 20, early registration is available for $125 with a graduate student rate of $64.50. This fee will be waived for the first ten graduate student presenters to register. After February 15 20 the fee is $150 with a graduate student rate of $75. 

Hotels

Discount rates are available at two hotels.

The Best Western, Rio Grande Inn: Book Here

The MAP rate is available until February 19, 2026. The Best Western provides a shuttle from and to the Albuquerque Sunport. This hotel is close to Old Town and restaurants. We will provide transportation from the Best Western to UNM

The Sheraton Albuquerque Airport Hotel: Book Here

The MAP rate is available until February 5, 2026. The Sheraton provides a shuttle to and from the airport as well as to the University of New Mexico (UNM). This hotel is closer to UNM but has fewer restaurants in the neighborhood.

MAP Membership

While membership is not required to present at MAP, only MAP members are eligible for registration subventions, travel awards, and paper prizes. Dues are $40 for regular members and $20 for students and contingent faculty. To join or renew, please visit the MAP website: https://www.medievalpacific.org/membership/.
